5 Reasons To Try a Yoga Class

Have you thought about getting in a Yoga routine? My advice is to certainly try it.
Many studies have shown that engaging in at least 20 minutes of yoga on a routine daily basis can be as effective in improving mood and reducing anxiety and depression as a medication
(https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5843960/) (https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fped.2020.00078/full).

Did you know that as we age, we can do things to turn off genetic expressions that if you carried certain genes and these were turned on could lead to memory problems such as dementia and Alzheimers? By exercising and participating in a routine yoga practice, we can help lengthen our telomeres on our DNA, thus help with keeping our brains healthy and keep bad genes turned off (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3423469/)(https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23380323/).
Stress also contributes to release of cortisol which creates inflammation in our bodies. Side effects of this may be muscle and joint aches, brain fog, fatigue, gut issues, and poor sleep patterns. Stress and cortisol and poor diet over time also contribute to chronic illnesses like heart disease and diabetes. It is well known that the breathing practices taught and performed during a yoga practice reduce stress response - decreased heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiousness. Eating your fresh bright colored fruits and vegetables contribute to decreasing inflammation in the body and also contribute to better health (https://doi.org/10.1111/psyp.12069)(https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/stress-management/in-depth/stress/art-20046037).
So why not? Fill your calendar with exercise and yoga time and your shopping cart with healthy foods!
Taking part in multiple forms of exercise is a must for every one and every body!
Be a GOAL GETTER. For those of you who already take part, that's fantastic! Keep it up!
Here’s to a joyful and healthy life!
